Good Beer Guide Review

Why did we review the Guide?

At 2024 Members’ Weekend, a motion was carried to ‘implement a comprehensive review’ of the Good Beer Guide.

Following this, the Commercial Committee appointed an independent body to carry out the review.

This included consultation with people from across the Campaign, including those who proposed the motion, representatives of the National Executive, the Chair of Regions and Branches Committee and members with experience in beer publishing.

Methods including focus groups and surveys were undertaken and recommendations then presented to the committee.

What’s next?

The findings of the review and a report to the National Executive are now available. These will also be presented at Members’ Weekend on Saturday 12 April.

Can I watch the review presentation, even if I’m not at Members’ Weekend in Torquay?

This year, we are livestreaming our Conference business on Saturday, so you will be able to tune in to watch the presentation if you’re not able to make it to Torquay.

The presentation is scheduled for 11.30am-12.15pm, and to watch you just need to use the link that will available on this page on Saturday 12 April.

Which motions for 2025 are related to the Review?

Two motions on the Order Paper for our Conference have been submitted by Commercial Committee as a result of the Review. The full list of motions for 2025 is here.

The full motion from 2024

This Conference instructs the National Executive to implement a comprehensive review of the Good Beer Guide. The review shall report to Conference in 2025 to ensure all relevant recommendations are implemented for the 2027 or 2028 edition, whichever is the more practicable.
