The Discovery Bar

Help others to learn more about their favourite drinks with CAMRA’s Discovery Bar programme

Founded in 2019, CAMRA’s Discovery Bar programme works to open up learning about beer, cider and perry. Making space for absolute beginners and seasoned drinkers alike through informal tastings, demonstrations, ingredients and information displays.

Volunteering at a Discovery Bar

Are you looking for a fun and rewarding way to engage others and pass on your enthusiasm for beer or cider? You don’t need to be an expert. We’re opening up learning for anyone who wants to find out more about their favourite drinks.

Maybe you visited our Discovery Bar at the 2023 Great British Beer Festival in London – if so, you’ll have seen what an exciting and informative place it was to hang out!

To get involved, just contact your local festival to see if they’re running a Discovery Bar and ask how you can help. If they’re not planning one, you can suggest they get in touch with CAMRA’s Learning & Discovery Manager alex.metcalfe@camra.org.uk to get the ball rolling.

Festival organisers: Are you looking to improve and expand the activities for attendees of your CAMRA festival?

CAMRA has a range of resources that you can order from the CAMRA warehouse to support your own Discovery Bar tastings: including pop-up banners, modern funky pop up bars, dispense equipment and more. We also have a limited capacity for support on your first day of the festival.

Tailored to your event

All discovery bar resources can be scaled to whatever sized event you are running. The pop-up bars are modular. Pending availability you can order as small or as large a set-up as you require for your Discovery Bar. It’s your festival, your choice.

Come volunteer at our Discovery Bars this year

Experience the Discovery Bar for yourself, work with the equipment and resources first hand. Make your own mind up and see how it would work for your festival.
